MEDIA RELEASE: Tioga County Public Health Receives $5,000 Grant to Support Child Passenger Safety Program

Last Updated: 5/11/2026

Tioga County Public Health is pleased to announce it has been awarded $5,000 in grant funding from the Community Foundation of South Central New York to support the county’s Child Passenger Safety Program.

Correct car seat installation and use are critical to preventing serious injuries and deaths among children involved in motor vehicle crashes. Through Tioga County Public Health’s Child Passenger Safety Program, certified child passenger safety technicians (CPSTs) work with parents and caregivers to ensure children are properly restrained based on their age, height, and weight. The program provides car seat checks, education on proper installation and use, and assistance for income-eligible families who need child safety seats.

The funding from the Community Foundation of South Central New York will strengthen local efforts to keep children safe while traveling by expanding resources for car seat education, installation checks, and support for families in need of appropriate child passenger safety seats.

Tioga County Public Health extends its sincere appreciation to the Community Foundation of South Central New York for its continued investment in the health and well-being of our community.

For more information about the Child Passenger Safety Program or to schedule a car seat check, please contact Tioga County Public Health at 607-687-8600 or visit ph.tiogacountyny.gov.
